On December 13th, the 2023 Christmas and New Year’s Reception of the CEIBS Alumni Vancouver was successfully held at the CEIBS Alumni Vancouver office (Amber Financial). Alumni from China Europe Vancouver gathered together, reminiscing about friendship, sharing the past, looking forward to the future, gaining inspiration in the colorful atmosphere, and jointly welcoming the coming new year.
When the clock struck 2:00 PM, the Christmas and New Year’s Reception commenced as scheduled. The lively atmosphere filled the venue, and the opening performance was presented by the CEIBS Alumni Vancouver Choir. They delivered a captivating rendition of the song “Radiance,” setting the stage for a wonderful event with warm melodies, adding a touch of warmth to Christmas and the upcoming year 2024.

President Elvis Song expressed a warm welcome to the attending alumni on behalf of the association. He thanked the directors for their strong support and expressed gratitude to the event sponsors, Xin Zhao, and Amber Financial. Looking ahead, the CEIBS Alumni Vancouver is committed to continuing to serve alumni families, providing a more diverse range of activities and consolidating the strength of overseas alumni.

Subsequently, Secretary-General Yi Wang and several directors presented the “2023 CEIBS Alumni Vancouver Council Work Report,” reviewing the achievements of the association over the past year.

Xin Zhao introduced the China Europe Vancouver Golf Club and the “Guandan” Club. The alumni association organized golf activities during the golf season from April to October, with a total of 13 events and 180 participants in 2023. The China Europe Vancouver Golf Club collaborated with brother alumni associations, such as the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business Canadian Alumni Association, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Vancouver Alumni Association, Xi’an University of Electronic Science and Technology Vancouver Alumni Association, and Renmin University of China Canadian Alumni Association, to organize several inter-school golf competitions in 2023.

Feng Xiao introduced the CEIBS Alumni Vancouver Tennis Club. Established in April 2022, the tennis team had 32 members and conducted regular activities every Friday. In 2023, the total number of activities reached 730 participants. As one of the organizers, the association successfully hosted the “Amber Cup” China University Vancouver Alumni Tennis Friendly Match in 2023.

Xun Wang shared information about the Ski Club, of which she is also a licensed coach. The Ski Club organized regular skiing activities during the winter season, inviting two Level 4 coaches for snowboarding and skiing to give thematic lectures, which received enthusiastic responses from alumni.

Sulei Jiang introduced the Alumni Association Choir. Directed by Professor Zhong Shaohong (Xuege), the choir was established on November 11, 2022, with 15 regular members and 4 visiting members. They performed six major public shows and organized activities such as study tours and performances.

Jianhui Sha introduced the China Europe Happy and Healthy Running Team. Established in early April, the running group advocated a healthy and happy lifestyle. In 2023, they organized nearly 20 activities, with over 30 members running consistently, accumulating a monthly total running distance exceeding 1000 kilometers.

Zhaohui Tao introduced the Badminton Club. The China Europe Badminton Association has strong genes, and the Vancouver branch benefits from abundant human resources and a solid grassroots foundation. Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM are the fixed training times for the badminton club, promoting fitness and friendship.

Qi Wu presented the Bridge Club. As one of the world’s most popular card games, the club regularly held bridge events. Currently, weekly activities are conducted online, achieving notable results and warmly welcoming alumni interested in bridge to join!

Following the reports on the Alumni Association’s activities,Yi Wang provided an overview of the major events, overseas classes, cross-school joint activities, and the annual financial report for 2023.
The China Europe Overseas Classroom featured two exciting offline classes by Professors Dongsheng Zhou and Yan Gong. The association hosted events such as the China Europe Tsinghua Fellowship Reception, China Europe Changjiang Autumn Reception, and book club salons. Major events included the 2023 Amber Night Vancouver New Year’s Concert, summer fruit picking, and the China Europe New Year’s Reception. Looking forward, they would continue hosting the 2024 Amber Night Vancouver New Year Charity Concert on January 13, 2024, to share an audio-visual feast with alumni.
Yi Wang expressed gratitude to the core sponsor, Amber Financial, for their regular support of the association’s activities. In 2023, Amber Financial’s sponsorship exceeded CAD 53,200, and they contributed over 1610 hours of manpower.

After the alumni association’s work report, the networking session of the reception officially began. In this joyful gathering, each alumna felt endless joy in the rhythm of music and the fragrance of fine wine. This Christmas and New Year’s Reception not only became a feast of friendship but also created memorable and beautiful memories for alumni. As the new year arrives, let us raise our glasses together, wishing for the continued radiance of friendship and envisioning a happy future in our second home, Canada!

CEIBS Alumni Vancouver was established in 2009 to serve alumni in the Greater Vancouver area, providing a platform for communication, learning, and support. As one of the largest overseas alumni associations of China Europe International Business School, the Vancouver chapter currently has over 300 alumni families, regularly organizing diverse activities such as charity concerts and golf tournaments.
