On the elegant evening of May 16, 2025, the “Stars of the Night” Charity Gala—hosted by St. John Ambulance—graced the ballroom of Vancouver’s Hyatt Regency Hotel with warmth, purpose, and light. Over 300 distinguished guests, including government officials, business leaders, philanthropists, and community advocates, came together in celebration and support of a shared mission: to empower lives through first aid training, therapy dog services, and youth leadership programs.

A Night of Compassion, Celebration, and Community Impact
Set against a backdrop of refined elegance, the gala brought together hearts and minds for an unforgettable evening. Guests, dressed in formal attire, were welcomed into an atmosphere rich with music, fine dining, and the glow of shared purpose. The evening honored over 140 years of service that St. John Ambulance has dedicated to saving lives, promoting wellness, and empowering youth across British Columbia.
Mr. Hing-Lin Yeung, Chair of St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon, opened the evening with an inspiring address. He highlighted the incredible impact of the organization’s Youth Leadership Program—a unique initiative that goes beyond first aid and discipline training to foster cross-cultural exchange and global awareness. Last year, Canadian youth representatives participated in international leadership exchanges across Asia-Pacific, connecting with peers from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Australia. These experiences fostered not only skills, but friendships and a shared vision for global citizenship.
Healing Through Connection: The Therapy Dog Program
Another highlight of the evening was the heartfelt fundraising appeal for the beloved Therapy Dog Program. Through carefully trained dogs and passionate volunteers, this program provides emotional support and companionship to seniors, children, and patients in schools, hospitals, and care homes. These gentle visits offer comfort, reduce loneliness, and help those in need rediscover connection, joy, and healing.
Introducing the Honorary President Club
In a special announcement, the Honorary President Club was formally established—bringing together a group of respected and community-minded leaders, including Mr. Hing-Lin Yeung and Mrs. Catherine Yiu, and Ms. Jacqueline Yuan. Their role will be to amplify the reach and resources of St. John Ambulance, building bridges across sectors to provide long-term, inclusive support for youth development and vulnerable populations.
