Amber Financial Supports 2025 “Baydo Cup” Golf Championship

Against the scenic backdrop of GreenTee Country Club, the 8th Annual “Baydo Cup” Vancouver Chinese Amateur Golf Team Championship officially opened on May 27, marking the beginning of one of the most prestigious and community-driven golf events in the Greater Vancouver area.

The opening ceremony welcomed over 200 amateur golfers, team captains, sponsor representatives, and golf enthusiasts from across the Chinese-Canadian community. The tournament is proudly title-sponsored by Baydo Group and co-sponsored by Amber Financial, two long-standing partners with deep roots in real estate and financial services, respectively.

A Celebration of Sport and Community

The tournament has grown steadily over eight consecutive years, becoming a powerful platform for athletic excellence, community cohesion, and cultural exchange. In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee expressed sincere gratitude to Baydo Group, Amber Financial, and all sponsors for their continued support.

“This league has become more than just a competition—it’s a symbol of unity and pride for the Chinese-Canadian community,” he noted.

Strategic Partnership: United by Vision and Values

Both Baydo Group and Amber Financial share a deep commitment to enriching the lives of Chinese-Canadians—not only through excellence in real estate and financial services, but also by supporting meaningful community events.

Mr. Yufeng Wang, President of Baydo Group (left), and Derek, Marketing Director of Amber Financial (right), attended the opening and gave interviews on behalf of their respective companies.

“We are proud to support this tournament, which reflects the values of perseverance, discipline, and teamwork — values we also uphold at Amber,” said Derek.

Tournament Format and Kickoff Results

The competition follows a Ryder Cup-style format, featuring Four-ball, Foursomes, and Singles Matchplay over multiple stages. The group stage includes 12 teams, divided into Group A and Group B, with five total match days. Team standings are determined by a combination of match wins and individual hole scores (small points), adding both depth and strategic complexity.

Opening Round Highlights (May 27):

Group A:

  • Friendly Team dominated with a 6:0 sweep, taking the top spot with full points
  • Dragon Banner Team delivered a strong 5:1 win over White Rock, placing second
  • Shifu Team overcame VCL Women’s Team with a 4:2 victory

Group B:

  • Golden Bear Team impressed with a clean 6:0 victory, leading their group
  • West Canada Team won 4.5:1.5 against Lions Gate Team, showing solid form
  • Maple Chinese Team opened strong with a 4:2 win over Seahawks Team

These early results showcased not only individual excellence but also seamless teamwork, strategic depth, and competitive intensity. The next round of matches will be held on May 29, promising even more thrilling play as the group stage unfolds.

Running through late June, the championship will progress from group matches to challenge rounds, semi-finals, and the grand final, with a celebratory Charity Awards Banquet on June 27.
