On December 20, 2024, the CEIBS Vancouver Alumni Association hosted its Christmas & New Year Celebration at the alumni office (Amber Financial) in Richmond. Alumni gathered to reconnect, reflect on the past year, and look ahead to 2025 in a festive atmosphere filled with music, dance, and meaningful conversations.
The event kicked off at 2:00 PM with an energetic belly dance performance by Simin Wen, the Association’s Treasurer, and Danya, co-founder of the Vancouver Aita Dance School. Their lively performance spread holiday joy. The CEIBS Vancouver Alumni Choir then performed “Amazing Grace” and “Heaven’s Road,” filling the room with beautiful music and warm wishes for the season.
Yi Song, President of the Alumni Association, welcomed attendees and thanked the board members and sponsors for their support. He emphasized the strong connection between alumni and their alma mater, promising continued engagement and enriching activities for the future.
Secretary-General Yi Wang presented a report on the association’s activities in 2024, including the 4th Annual Vancouver New Year Charity Concert, which raised over $40,000 for charity, and the first overseas courses for CEIBS EMBA and MBA programs in Vancouver. Other events included a blueberry picking BBQ, lectures on parenting and taxation, and a variety of social gatherings.
Board members shared updates on the alumni clubs:
The Golf Club organized 15 events with 176 participants.
The Tichu Club held regular online and offline events.
The Tennis Club, founded in 2022, had 420 participants in 2024.
The Ski Club, which started in 2018, now has 36 members.
The Alumni Choir performed 10 public shows and rehearsed 43 songs.
The Running Group organized charity runs and participated in marathons.
The Badminton Club had over 500 participants in 2024, with over 100 people trained.
The Bridge Club hosted weekly online events, with great success.
The Leather Workshop provided a creative space for alumni to learn leathercraft.
The newly formed Fishing and Hunting Club held successful events, including a spring hunt where three black bears were caught.
Treasurer Simin Wen presented the financial report, highlighting the crucial support of alumni membership fees and corporate sponsorships, especially from Amber Financial, which contributed over $33,900 in 2024.
Founded in 2009, the CEIBS Vancouver Alumni Association serves alumni and alumni businesses in the Greater Vancouver area, providing a platform for communication, learning, and support. As one of the largest overseas alumni associations of CEIBS, the Vancouver chapter now has over 300 alumni families and regularly organizes diverse events, including charity concerts and golf tournaments.
