What criteria do I have to meet to qualify for a loan?
You are eligible to apply a personal loan if:
- You have a credit score of 627 or above
- You have a valid status in Canada to live, study or work
- You are at least 19 years old
- You are able to afford the loan
- You do not have a pending or current unpaid collection or overdue account
- You do not have a pending, current or previous bankruptcy
- The loan is not for the benefit of any third parties
The following documentation and paperwork are required:
- A picture of both sides of your driver license or government issued ID card.
- One of the following:
- Copies of 2 most recent pay stubs
- Copies of 3 most recent year of notices of assessment from the Canadian Revenue Agency
- 3 most recent months of bank statement. Alternatively, you can login to your online bank account through a software. Do not worry, we do not have see, store, or have access to your password.
Where do I have to live?
We are able to provide loans to residents in Canada except Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia residences.
How old do I have to be?
You have to be at least 19 years old to apply for a loan.
What's the minimum credit score I need?
We look at more than just your credit score in evaluating your eligibility. Our system requires you to have a min credit score of 627.
Is there a minimum income amount I need?
There is no minimum income amount. Simply enter your income and we will offer you a personalized quote that will fit your need. You can also provide us your foreign income or other types of income at your preference.
Why didn't I get presented a loan option?
There can be several possibilities:
- The information on your credit report is insufficient for our scoring system.
- The information you have provided is not matching with our lending criteria.
- When you have a common name that is shared with others, we might not be able to find a match for you with the credit bureau.
What purpose do people use our service for?
Depending on their personal needs, borrowers use our services for various reasons.
The most common reasons include: Home renovation, paying off credit card debt, debt consolidation, vacation, wedding expenses, wedding proposal, paying off income tax debt, various business related expenses, and personal purchases.
If I don't have a credit score, am I still eligible?
Yes, if you do not have a credit score, we will be happy to help you establish your credit score in Canada. Simply follow our application process and you will receive a personalized quote.
Do I have to be employed?
No, you do not have to be employed to receive a personalized quote.
What should I do if I don't have a pay stub?
- Your past 3 months bank statements showing your monthly income deposit
- 3 years notice of assessment from the Canadian Revenue Agency is acceptable.
- Other proof of income. You can upload income documents on your account page

How do I get a loan?
If your loan request is qualified, you will receive a few loan options. Your interest rate, approved loan amount and fixed monthly payment are all included in each option.
After you have made your selection, you will need to upload the front and back of your driver lincese to verify your identity, and bank account verification.
To verify your bank account, you will need to login to your online banking via a secure connection. We will not have access to or store your login information.
Why do I need to supply my SIN?
Your SIN is optional. However, providing us your SIN will help us speed up your loan approval process.
How much can I apply for?
You can apply for loans from $1,000 to $50,000, with increments of $100.
Why didn't I receive the loan amount I asked for?
The loan amount that you are approved for is based on the information you have provided us.
How long do I have to accept a loan offer?
You can accept the loan offer within 7 days. After 7 days, the loan option will automatically expire.
How long does it take to receive my personalized quote?
It takes about 2-3 minutes to receive your personalized quote.
Will the interest rate change during the term/application of my loan?
No. Your interest rate will not change during the term of your loan. However, If you wish the extent your payment period, your monthly payment and interest rate may will change.
Can I apply on my tablet/phone?
Yes, Our website is mobile and tablet friendly. We are working hard to develop our IOS/Android App.
Why do I need to verify my bank account
Amber Financial uses an online verification tool to securely connect to financial institutions to verify your reported income and to guard against fraud. The online verification tool is widely used and reduce processing time by 60%, which means you will get your loan approval and funding much faster.

Is my bank account safe?
Amber Financial does not store, share, or view your login information. The online verification tool provides us a snapshot of your bank account statements so we can expedite your application. Online verification tool also helps us confirm your bank account information so you will receive your loan funding faster and easier. Alternatively, you can choose to upload your most recent bank statements.
What alternative proof of income and how do I submit it?
You can either submit 2 most recent pay stubs or your 3 most recent Notice of Assessments.
What is the final step after I've submitted proof of income?
Once your bank account is verified and your application is successfully processed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from us to inform you that we are reviewing your complete loan application. Once your completed loan application is approved, we will email you with a copy if your signed contract. Finally, your money will be directly deposited into your account within the next 1-3 business days.
What fees do we charge?
There would be no additional fees charged as long as you keep enough funds in your bank account to cover your monthly payment. A NSF fee ($50.00) would be charged if your bank account has insufficient funds to cover your monthly payment. If you miss a payment, we will notify you via text, email, or wechat.
What is APR?
APR stands for Annual Percentage Rate, which allows you to compare the cost of credit between different loan options.
How do we calculate interest?
All Annual Percentage Rates(APR) you receive from Amber Financial is annual compounding. Interest is calculated daily, and if you pay off your loan early, you are only responsible for paying the interest up to that day. We will start calculating interest on the next business day after your loan approval.
Funding and repaying
How long does it take for the money to be in my bank account?
It takes 1 - 3 business days.
How do I repay my loan?
An electronic reminder will be sent to you 3 days before your payment is due, and your monthly payment will be taken out automatically each month from your bank account.
Can I pay off my loan early?
Yes, and there will be no additional fees charged. The interest is calculated only up till the day you pay off your loan in full.
How can I make an extra payment on my loan?
In order to make an extra payment, please contact us through email or call us to let us know:
- Your loan number
- The payment amount
- The date of the payment
It will take us at least 3 business days to process your additional payment.
How do I pay my penalty?
Penalty and NSF charges will be charged to your PAD bank account. Alternatively, ou can also choose to pay us via bank transfer, Interac e-transfer, credit card, or cheque. For additional information, please contact us.
How do I pay my late fees or NSF fees?
Late fees and NSF fees will be charged to your pre-authorized debit (PAD) bank account. Alternatively, you can also choose to pay us via bank transfer, Interac e-transfer, credit card, or cheque. For additional information, please contact us.
What happens if there aren't enough funds in my bank account?
An additional NSF fee of $50 will be charged to cover associated costs.
Setting up Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD)
How do I set up a debit agreement?
After you've selected your loan term, you will sign a PAD contract. All loan payments and charges will be debited from your bank account as consented by you.
Can I switch my PAD bank account?
Please contact us if you need to update your PAD bank account.
Can I revoke the authorization?
Yes, you can revoke your authorization. Please contact us.
